Move them to Portland or Quebec or Kansas or Omaha or anywhere else. Just get them out of Phoenix

Maybe Vegas can support two teams?

The team would sellout / borderline sellout in Scottsdale. There’s so much money over here. Tons of fans would go just to take selfies. I would certainly use my season tickets more often if they were over here. I’m only maybe 7 minutes from the practice rink

Everyone I talked to since moving out here says no one in the east valley wants to drive to the west valley because of the traffic.

I live in the NW suburbs, about 30 miles from the United Center. Sometimes, especially on weeknights, it can take up to 2 hours to fight through traffic to get there to see the Blackhawks.

Using drive time or traffic as an excuse as to why a team can’t sell tickets is weak. And Arizona has done nothing to show they can support an NHL team. Stick to the Waste Management Classic and get out of the hockey business.

Put a team in Quebec City and people will drive for hours to get to a game, and they’d sell out every night.

I use to live down by Kankakee and when I had my Hawks tickets it took me longer to get from where the White Sox played to the UC or Stadium than it did from Kankakee to Comiskey or whatever they're calling it now.

It's a different type of fan out here when it comes to take a trip across the valley unless it's a weekend game.

The difference is that Arizona doesn't have a problem with suburban fans not driving an hour to the game, because their arena is not downtown or in the majory city. They have a situation where 90% of their fans have to drive an hour or two. It has nothing to do with what kind of fan there is.

It's the same for NFL games but since most games are Sundays that's why they go.

If they had more Thursday games there would be smaller crowds because people out here don't like to fight the traffic.

The Nordiques are coming, the bank is closing in
Bankruptcy expected, the attendance is growin' thin
Franchise stops running, but I have no fear

Change management, great, but that doesn't change Gila River Arena's sh1tty location. Glendale is a great place to enjoy a hockey day. But if you live in Phoenix, Mesa, Gilbert, Tempe and so on, to get there you have to fight frightening traffic coming and going. Combine that with a losing team and nobody's showing up, unless they love risking their lives getting there and they love watching a loser play.

I once (once!) went to a Thursday night Cardinals game. Took me over 2 hours to get from I-10/I-60 to the stadium, roughly 30 miles. I vowed to never go to a Cardinals game during the week again. And that was when they were good!

What is the lease situation for the coming year? Last I recall, the current lease expired at the end of the 2019 season.

your trophy is in the mail, super fan#1.

The arena being in Scottsdale would be the equivalent of where the United center is. The arena in Glendale would be like the hawks playing in Schaumburg. You're not comparing apples to apples here

Is the area around the United Centre gentrifying at all?

Or is it still "bus in, bus out, hope you don't get killed?"

Chicago has really cleaned up the area since the UC was built but back in the late 70's and 80's when the Stadium was there it was the latter.

this is feedback that Stormey had for us when he went to Chicago to see the Jets

basically it's matter of what turn you take out the door when leaving. turn left and your fine, turn right and you're seriously (frank)ed. (or vice versa but you get it).
